ART

This page is for a selection of art activity including performance art, unusual happenings and exhibitions.

These are my own art projects. For exhibitions and projects I have curated, usually with Rebecca Little, see Peg Powler.

Vigo the Caprinthian's Reactionary Corner - Performance piece taking place at the Above The Parapet Unconvention event in Middlesbrough, June 2012. For this I took to the stage with a 'haunted' painting and conducted an interview to examine the concept of reactionary politics and attitudes.

Clip Art: A Peg Powler exhibition featuring the world's easiest to find found art - Microsoft Clip Art, I made  a little routine and video to accompany the show, which you can see here.

Pests: exhibition January 2011. Thirty drawings of 1970s urban guerrillas rendered in pound shop marker pen, shown alongside 30 drawings of troublesome animals by Rebecca Little. A drawing of Petra Schelm later appeared in an exhibition in a rock club, curated by Aimée Charlotte.

Gudrun Ensslin, from Pests.

Observations: Conceptual text art 2010. Appeared in two exhibitions, the first a one off event in 2010, the second 'Words' an exhibition of word and text art in ARC Stockton Arts Centre, February 2011 which also included Micheal Duckett, Tom Flynn, Josie Long, James Harris and Elle Green. This work features cut ups - more like cut outs - from The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, 1980 to 2010 printed and framed. Taken as out of context as possible, mostly not referencing wrestling, the phrases, sentences and half sentences float in white space as mysterious messages or micro-novels. After having done a lot of drawing it was fun to do a piece featuring no drawing, illustration or even actual writing.

Various untitled Witch Pictures: water colours and drawings 2010. Year of the witch.

The University of Doom: Satirical 3D board game, 2009.

The Ghouls of Summer: Exhibition of the type of things I don't really do now, 2009. Grotesque fashion illustration (ghouls) and black and white series of satirical drawings revisiting Hansel and Gretel.
