There is an exhibition by Margaret Harrison, one of the greatest feminist artists, at Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art. The exhibition is called 'Accumulations' and runs till January 24th. As a public event to tie in with the exhibition I concocted a workshop inspired by elements of Margaret's techniques. In this workshop, which took place in the gallery space, each participant was given a dossier. Upon opening it they found a mini biography of a famous individual from popular culture, along with photos of them at different times of their life. The task then was to paint them. Like Margaret Harrison's watercolours some highly satirical, some sensitive, and some very funny. It was a very rewarding workshop, and my thanks to all the participants and to the Institute.
